Pharmaceutical Development in China <!--br> Description: The recent swine flu outbreak is a reminder that infectious diseases represent an ongoing threat to public health. This distinguished panel of researchers, executives, and regulatory experts will offer insight into the lessons that can be learned by examining the swine flu outbreak as a case study. The audience will gain a new appreciation for the challenges presented in identifying and responding to the apparent spread of a disease. The panelists will discuss cutting-edge approaches for diagnosis, DNA vaccine and antiviral agents. California composer Lou Harrison looks to China for inspiration in his concerto for pipa (Chinese lute) that blends West Coast with the Far East. The soloist is internationally-renowned, San Diego resident, Wu Man, for whom the concerto was written.
