Bio of Dr. Hu:
Hua-ling Hu has taught Chinese language, literature, and history at several universities, including the University of Colorado-Boulder, where she received a doctorate in history. She served as an editor for the Journal of the Studies of Japanese Aggression against China for six years. In addition to some sixty articles, she has authored six books, among them American Goddess at the Rape of Nanking. In 1998, she was awarded the Literary and Arts Medal of Honor in Taiwan for the Chinese language edition of her biography of Minnie Vautrin. In 2011, the book which she co-edited with Zhang Lian-hong, The Undaunted Women of Nanking was on the 10 Best Books List (2010) of the Chinese American Librarians Association. The following year, the Rape of Nanking Redress Coalition of San Francisco bestowed upon her a Lifetime Achievement Award.
